Split Ends???? ?

I'm really upset right now because of my split ends! It took me years to grow my hair out and get it as long as it is now. I straighten it everyday and now I have like tons of split ends! I'm so upset because if I get them trimmed, my hair won't be long anymore! How is it that other people I know straighten their hair and it looks great with no split ends and when I do, I get a lot of split ends. I'm so worried...I don't kow what to do. I'm really upset because my hair got really long and I love it...Now, it's ruined. ='(
