Acne scar treatment....which route should I go?

I have recurring acne since the age of about 12 (I'm 34 now) and a lot of old acne scars from my teen years. I have never been to a dermatologist or a doctor about this issue up until today. I'm so tired of the acne and the scars...ugh! Well, today I walked into a med-spa type of place and got a consultation....$3999!!!!! Wow, I didn't know It would cost THAT much for treatment. I guess it all depends on the type of treatment I get. So basically the med-spa place explained that they'd have to treat the acne from recurring altogether, then laser treatment. I don't remember all the details of it. What do you all think? My friend said getting facials has helped hers a lot, but she had very few scars. I would consider my scars more on the moderate side. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
